The SustainAdvisory Team is very proud to announce an important milestone in the evolution of our entrepreneurial project: as of 8 January 2021, SustainAdvisory is registered in the special section of Innovative Startups in the Companies Register.
An innovative start-up is an enterprise, which is characterised by the development, production and marketing of innovative products or services with a high technological value, which offers products or services that are technology-driven and capable of having an impact of positive change in the sector in which they operate or intend to operate.
SustainAdvisory offers solutions for the identification and assessment of economic-environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities with proprietary models and algorithms (score, KPIs, benchmark) developed with the use of big data and artificial intelligence technologies. SustainAdvisory offers support in non-financial and supervisory reporting, access and structuring of alternative financial instruments (green, social, sustainable bonds) for companies and financial intermediaries.
SustainAdvisory collaborates on ad hoc projects with research institutes, forums and non-governmental organisations in the field of sustainability research.
It should be noted that recently, under the Relaunch Decree (Decree-Law No. 34/2020), Innovative Start-Ups have been granted equal status with Universities and Research Institutes, with respect to the tax credit benefits tied to research and development contracts executed with such entities. Therefore, extra muros research contracts entered into with Innovative Start-Ups, also benefit from a higher cost basis (of 150%) for calculating the tax credit, previously reserved to Universities and Research Institutes only. The 2021 Budget Law, published in the official gazette on 30 December 2020, has extended to 2022 the tax credit (for expenses in research and development activities (up to 20%), and technological innovation and other innovative activities, referred to in Article 1, paragraph 198 et seq. (Law no. 160/2019).
SustainAdvisory can therefore also support its clients to benefit from these important incentives.
